A moment's association is a most precious gift...
To open the eyes, warm the heart, and enliven the soul.

Technological Power is Mystic Perfection

Those who are on the path of material progress take shelter of and are literally amazed at air travel and the Internet. The ability to travel halfway around the planet in about 10 hours and to download information almost instantly in places thousands of miles away is considered awesome. But a devotee thinks threading an elephant through the eye of needle is no more amazing than the small seed that contains complex makings of a giant banyan tree (Raja-vidya, chapter three).

Genetic Modified Organisms

Another naivete sweeping student communities worldwide is the notion that their grass movement activism (devoid of Krishna consciousness) will create a groundswell that will stop genetic modification in foods. Unfortunately the propaganda war is being won by the GMO people, who have large amounts of discretionary capital at their disposal and who can advertise pervasively in magazines, on TV and in the newspapers.

Who is a "saint"

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura simply defines a saint thus: "He who is constantly absorbed in discussing about Sri Hari is a saint. One who is constantly engaged in serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead is a saint. One who in all his endeavors tries to serve Krsna is a saint." (from his Will)

Following and Imitating

On the spiritual path, we encounter followers and imitators, and find it can be difficult to distinguish between the two.

The backlash to Globalization

Like it or not, argues journalist Thomas Friedman, the era of globalization is upon us. Somewhat naively, Friedman, as well as leading Cambridge economist Amartya Sen (author of "Development as Freedom"), think that there IS a way forward. In their opinion, globalization can be beneficial if its perpetrators make serious attempts to preserve local cultures, religions and customs.

Biological Parents and Their Offspring: the Ultimate Benefit

Although Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu performed the sraddha ceremony in Gaya, the Srimad Bhagavatam informs us in 5.5.18:

The QUALITIES are important

In his Will Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati refers to the twenty six qualities of a devotee. He writes, "This material nature, which is averse to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is an examination hall.

Our "only desire" should be

In his Last Will and Testament, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura said, "Our only desire is to collect the dust from the lotus feet of Sri Rupa Goswami, who fulfilled the desire of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu."
