Kangaroos & Kookaburras
Living entities in the form of animals hold special attraction for human beings. This is particularly true in relation to the more distant and exotic species. With regard to birdsongs, the kookaburra (also known as the Australian kingfisher) is unique. Its call sounds like a cackling human, and has been used in Hollywood films that depict characters in Africa. Among exotic mammals, the kangaroo is held in fascination for its unique method of mobility. And the beautifully colored macaws of South America are often smuggled across international borders because people will pay top dollars to gaze at the bright, multi-colored plumage, even if the bird is trapped in a tiny metal prison for life. These examples illustrate the fascination people have for some of the 8.4 million types of jives indicated in the Padma Purana.
