Unbeknownst to many, the world?s five most sacred rivers aren?t the longest. The five most sacred ones, mentioned in Srila Prabhupada?s Srimad Bhagavatam (purport 6.10.16) are the Ganga, Yamuna, Krsna, Kaveri and Narmada. The earth?s five longest are said to be (in descending order) the Nile, Amazon, Mississippi-Missouri, Yangtze-klang (China), and the Ob (Russia). The Brahmputra is 25th on the list, and the Ganga 36th. (source: various Internet statistical websites)
